As a part of their keynote speech at CES 2022,  Sony have announced that Horizon VR Call of the Mountain will be the first game developed for the upcoming PS5 virtual reality hardware, PSVR2. Developed by Sony’s recently acquired UK studio Firespite and Guerrilla Games, Call of the Mountain will take us directly to the apocalyptic 31st century. Scared yet? Well, you should be!

The teaser below features Guerilla’s studio director Jan-Bart van Beek, but it doesn’t reveal too many details about the game itself. Still, an accompanying article on PlayStation Blog tells us that Horizon Call of the Mountain will see us stepping into the shoes of a brand new protagonist as we explore Horizon‘s beautiful and highly dangerous world. We are expected to traverse the landscape, embark upon adventure, and come face-to-face with familiar characters, including Aloy herself.

With plenty of frozen tundras, gorgeous lush forests, magnificent horizons, and a whole range of fascinating creatures, the Horizon franchise will be a real blast in VR, especially considering the power of PS5 hardware, and some of the PSVR2’s recently revealed features (like eye-tracking and Haptic Feedback). So yeah, you don’t want to miss out on this!

Horizon Call of the Mountain is currently in development for the PSVR2 platform. Meanwhile, Guerilla Games are putting the finishing touches to Horizon Forbidden West, which is coming to PS4 & PS5 on February 18.
