Sega have finally unveiled their next Sonic game, and the rumors were true – the 2022 adventure of our favorite blue blur will definitely be named Sonic Frontiers.
The presentation we saw at The Game Awards gave us more information on what we can expect from our favorite hedgehog next year following the tease earlier this year. The plot of Sonic Frontiers will take place in a location known as the Starfall Islands. As you can see from the footage below, it’s a world full of rushing waterfalls, dense forests, lush landscapes, and more.
As Sega noted, the game will feature “high-velocity open-zone freedom”, which means that we are in for the first open-world adventure in the Sonic universe. Breath of the Wild vibes are strong here. We can’t see any gameplay footage just yet, but I’m sure Sega will drop it soon enough. We just need to be patient.
