Sega and Creative Assembly have announced that they are delaying the launch of Total War: Warhammer III into next year.

Chief Product Officer Rob Bartholomew explained the delay in a statement that was posted on the game’s official Twitter account. Here’s what he had to say: “While it’s tempting to rush to the finish line as it comes into view, we have made the decision to give it a little more time by moving the launch of Total War: Warhammer III from 2021 to early 2022. The wait won’t be much longer, and we’ll have plenty of new information for you in the meantime. The new date will make for a stronger release and the best first step into a new era for Total War: Warhammer.”  He also adds that he doesn’t see this release as the end of a trilogy, but promises “years of content and support”.

The game was first announced back in February. It allows players to conduct epic-scale battles across the Realm of Chaos, and it offers the widest selection of playable races thus far. You’ll get to control some legendary lords like Skarbrand of the Khorme with his twin axes Carnage and Slaughter.

Total War: Warhammer III is coming to PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store) in early 2022.
