Sony have decided to make Horizon Forbidden West’s PS4 to PS5 upgrade free after all and they’ve added that further upgrades will cost $10 each.

On the PlayStation blog, they’ve revealed that the game’s Collector’s and Limited Editions were updated with a statement coming from Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan. He said that “it’s abundantly clear that the offerings we confirmed in our pre-order kickoff missed the mark.”

“Last year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic’s profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.”

Going forward, all first PlayStation exclusives coming to PS4 and PS5 will offer a $10 USD digital upgrade option. This offer will apply to the upcoming God of War follow up and Gran Turismo 7, as well as all other exclusives published by SIE.

Horizon Forbidden West is coming to PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022.
